I attended the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) Expo last week in North Carolina with several other members of the board of directors. I’ve attended IFAI for the past 10 years and was pleasantly surprised by all of the positive changes that were evident at this year’s event. Ed Keough, NECPA Board Member was there as an exhibitor with his company Futureguard Building Products. He had this to say:
I was a member for years, but strictly in a monetary capacity. The extent of my involvement consisted of paying annual dues and clipping a chance coupon from a booklet I received as a member benefit. Little did I know what I was missing! While the dues we receive are a crucial component of our survival, it is not the heart and soul of this organization. It does not define who we are.
January and February have been chock-full of events for the canvas industry and I’m finding myself on a whirlwind tour to connect with as many canvas professionals as I can in the next several weeks. We kicked off the year with the Marine Fabricators Conference in January, where we got insight into the latest innovations and business strategies for the marine canvas industry. The NECPA Annual Meeting and Expo followed shortly after and was filled with exciting sessions, hands-on demos and the first ever LiveStream of the event!
It is with a heavy heart that we report the loss of a great individual in our industry. Antone “Tony” DaCosta of DaCosta Awning Company passed away on September 19 after a long illness. He will be missed by all. In this month's blog article, we would like to celebrate Tony and his accomplishments by providing some insights into his life and family.
At the NECPA, email has always been an important part of reaching out to promote our Annual Meeting and Expo. In 2015 we employed a more aggressive email strategy than ever, sending over 15,000 emails to promote our regional show. Last year, our marketing campaigns last year resulted in the highest number of show pre-registrations in our history. We know email was an important part of that, and for that reason I want to make sure that all of our members are leveraging email marketing to reach out to their own contacts to boost their own sales.
As we announced earlier this year, the NECPA Member Coupons will now be available online all year long. This new online format allows vendors to offer continual updates and "flash sales" all year long, and ensures that members can access their coupons at their convenience and at any time. We encourage members to check back regularly to see the new coupons that have been added. For information and a video demonstrating how to access the coupons, please read this post.
